Jackson's First Day of Preschool

Jackson was excited about his first day of preschool...until we actually got to preschool. We had been praying about it with him and telling him, "God will be with you." As we were dropping him off (and for many weeks after) he continued to ask sob, "Will God be with me!?" We assured him God would be with him. Then he'd ask, "Where is God!?" We assured him God is everywhere.

A daily routine was quickly established. It's 13 simple steps:

1) Stop at a mural of sheep.
2) I (or whoever is dropping him off) kneels down.
3) Jackson sits on my knee.
4) Tuck Blankie around him
5) Pray for Jackson to have a good day and to be brave.
6) Walk to the classroom door.
7) Jackson cries and asks a dozen times, "Will you pick me up!?"
8) Assure him he will be picked up.
9) Jackson gives sloppy wet kisses on cheeks and forehead.
10) Jacksons cries and asks a dozen more times, "Will you pick me up!?"
11) Assure him again he will be picked up.
12) Teacher prompts Jackson to enter the classroom.
13) Jackson waves and says, "Bye, Mom. Bye! Bye, Mom. Bye!" until I'm out of sight
